Day 4 update

Oops!  I forgot to put up a post these last couple of nights, but rest assured that I am still on my eating strategy. And, it's getting much easier.  Today is my second day at home with this plan, and I have found that even when I go out to eat with the family, I'm still able to pull off a 250-300 calorie meal.  We went for a short walk yesterday, and that helped a lot as it meant I was able to add another 200 calories or so to my dinner.  I have noticed, though, that I am feeling much less hungry between meals today than I was yesterday.  I picked up some sugar free hard candies to suck on if the craving gets bad, but all in all (even in the beginning) it's been tolerable.

Diet is a four letter word

As you know, I've recently started a new "eating strategy" that involves me eating 8 mini-meals spaced throughout the day.  I don't like to call it a diet, though.  That word just conjures up too many negative connotations.  Instead, I prefer to call it a meal plan (although, the "eating strategy" term that I just coined sounds even catchier).

It's funny that the word "diet" had become such a negative word in our society, though.  All "diet" means is how you eat.  If all you ate were Twinkies and ice cream, that would be your diet.  I guess there have just been too many fad diets in these last couple of decades, and the word has taken on a new meaning.

Oh well.  That's enough for now.  I'll post again later to talk about how my thinning out went today.

Mini-meals

I am just wrapping up Day 1 of a 48 hour shift.  Last night, I decided to try a new meal plan.  The plan is to eat one, 200-250 calorie meal every 2 hours for a total of eight mini-meals per day.  In theory, this will crank up my metabolism and get my stomach used to smaller portions so I don't feel hungry as often.  This first day on the plan went fairly well.  Whenever I started to feel hungry, I would fill the void with copious amounts of water.  I stuck with it right up until a coworker's family brought out a pan of hot, fresh brownies and against my better judgement, I indulged.

All in all, I only went over my calorie goal by 490 calories.  I intended to work that off with some quality time on the elliptical, but the day seemed to fly by too fast--I really need to work on my exercise motivation.  Still, I came in under my basal metabolic rate, though, so I can feel good about that.  Tomorrow will be the second day of this meal plan.  Let's hope no one else brings in any sweets.

Still no measurements

I've had a mess of free time lately, but I didn't even think about getting my measurements, photos, etc.  Now it's past my bedtime and I need to get up early.  I promise I'll get it all up here soon.

Easter

Well, it's Easter Sunday and I'm at work. Trying to stick to my meal plan, but after beakfast, I'm left with under 800 calories to finish out the day. Maybe my calorie goal of 1880 per day is just too low. Or, maybe it's time I started exercising to offset the difference. Dunno.
